Snowy slopes and chalets at Peyragudes

Peyragudes

Peyragudes straddles a mountain pass, so its runs look out over two valleys and a long line of snowy peaks.

Peyragudes joins the former resorts of Peyresourde and Les Agudes on either side of a ridge between the Louron and Larboust valleys, with around 60 km of slopes. Its small altiport appeared in the opening scene of the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), and the Tour de France has finished a stage on the same runway.

The skiing

The terrain suits families and intermediates, with plenty of wide blues and reds, a good beginner area and panoramic views from the top lifts. Snow-making covers much of the area.

Balnéa

Down in the Louron valley, Balnéa in Loudenvielle is a thermal spa with outdoor pools facing the mountains, and a gondola links the village to the slopes.

Luchon is about 20 minutes away, and Saint-Lary about 40.
