Baqueira Beret sits at the top of the Val d'Aran, where Atlantic weather brings more snow than resorts further south. It has well over 150 km of marked slopes spread across four sectors, with a top lift at around 2,600 metres.
The sectors
- Baqueira: the main base, with steep reds and blacks above the village.
- Beret: a high, rolling plateau of gentle runs, great for beginners and families.
- Bonaigua and Baciver: quieter, wilder slopes with excellent off-piste.
Off-piste and freeride
Baqueira is one of the best freeride resorts in Spain, with many itineraries reachable from the lifts. Hire a local guide and carry avalanche equipment.
Après-ski and food
The resort is known for its refined mountain restaurants, with Aranese stews, grilled meats and plenty of cava. Down the valley, the villages of Salardú, Arties and Vielha have good restaurants and quieter nights.
Getting there
Toulouse is around 2 h 30 by car, Barcelona about 4 hours. Winter buses link Barcelona and Lleida with the valley.
