Nine small churches in the Vall de Boí, built mostly in the 11th and 12th centuries, were added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2000 as a group of Catalan Romanesque churches. Their slender stone bell towers rise above slate-roofed villages.
Highlights
- Sant Climent de Taüll, with its six-storey tower. Its famous Pantocrator fresco is now in the MNAC museum in Barcelona, but a video projection recreates the original colours in the apse.
- Santa Maria de Taüll, in the heart of the village.
- Sant Joan de Boí and Santa Eulàlia d'Erill la Vall.
Tips
- Start at the Romanesque Centre in Erill la Vall for information and combined tickets.
- Combine with a day in Aigüestortes.
