Saint-Lary-Soulan sits in the Vallée d'Aure, with a gondola rising from the village to the ski station of Pla d'Adet. The ski area continues to Espiaube and the high Vallon du Portet, with roughly 100 km of slopes.
The skiing
- Pla d'Adet and Espiaube offer friendly blues and reds and good beginner zones.
- The Vallon du Portet has the highest and steepest runs, plus freeride.
- There are terrain parks and a snow-garden for children.
In the village
Saint-Lary has stone houses, cosy restaurants and the Sensoria thermal spa. Garbure and local Aure lamb are on many menus.
Summer
In summer, the road to the Col du Portet is a fearsome bike climb, and the Néouvielle Nature Reserve, with dozens of mountain lakes, is right next door.
